Arapuni Dam Road Closure
What is happening?
From mid-August, Arapuni Dam Road will be closed for 24-36 months. We will share the exact date when it is confirmed.
This project is managed by Mercury.
Detour for light vehicles
A temporary detour route via Powerhouse Road will be put in place during the closure. This detour is for light vehicles only including cars, motorcycles, school buses, emergency services and rigged trucks up to 8 meters.
Alternative routes
General through‑traffic, heavy freight/commercial vehicles and long-distance travel should use the SH1-SH21-SH3 route.
Plan your journey
- Powerhouse Road has limitations and can only safely accommodate light vehicles.
- Permitted vehicles: Cars, light vehicles and motorcycles, school buses and emergency services, rigid trucks up to 8 metres.
- Not permitted: High Productivity Motor Vehicles (HPMVs), oversized, extended or long-unit freight vehicles.
- General through-traffic and heavy freight are expected to use the SH1-SH21-SH3 route.
