APPLY

It is great to hear you want to be part of our community! Find the role you want to apply for through our Careers website. There are diverse roles available throughout the district, and one of them could be yours.

SHORTLIST

We will review your CV and Cover Letter, which will also go through the relevant hiring managers to check your suitability for the role. If you are selected we will proceed to the next step.

INTERVIEW

Expect a phone call or an email inviting you to join a physical or online interview. Further information will be provided about the date, time, and location.

The interview usually involves talking or presenting to a panel including, the hiring manager and a People & Capability team member. Most questions will be based on technical, behavioural and competency skills, and used to assess your suitability for the role.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT

After the interview stage, role-dependent pre-employment checks will take place, including references. An email will be sent to you detailing the necessary checks that would need to be completed.

THE OFFER

The hiring manager or a People & Capability team member will call you to verbally offer the position and verbally confirm your acceptance.

Afterwards, an email containing a Letter of Offer and the job description will be sent to you, along with other relevant documents.

ACCEPTANCE

To confirm acceptance and formally welcome you to the South Waikato District Council, a signed Letter of Offer will be emailed to you.

Onboarding may start as soon as we receive your acceptance. On your first day at the Council, we will introduce you to the various departments and arrange the necessary training to assimilate you to the workplace. Other necessary tools, devices, and/or equipment related to your role would also be given on the first day.
