Long Term Plan 2027-2037

What is the Long Term Plan about?

Every three years, each Council in Aotearoa New Zealand is required to set out a strategic plan for the next 10 years - also known as The Long Term Plan (LTP).

This formal document sets out our local financial priorities (and how they're funded) to align with the social, economic and wellbeing goals for our community. The three yearly renewal process ensures these objectives are up to date and relevant to our local needs.

How does Council include local voice?

In October 2026, we will be seeking pre-engagement community feedback to help shape the key options for local assets, services and spending as we prepare the draft Long Term Plan 2027-2037. Formal consultation is due to be completed in early 2027.

Vision and Goals

Elected members have workshopped and adopted the following vision and goals to ensure the next Long Term Plan best aligns with our community's needs.

Annual Plan

The Annual Plan is prepared and published by Council each year, which is an up-to-date plan for the financial year ahead (1 July - 30 June). The purpose of this document is to ensure Council is keeping to the goals for each year of the Long Term Plan and staying accountable to our strategic vision.

The Annual Plan includes more operational detail than the LTP. It includes the annual budget and the funding impact statement for the year, and any significant variations from the current Long Term Plan.
