There are two full libraries in the District, the largest of which is in Tokoroa (temporarily located at 211 Leith Place). The Putāruru Library is situated in the Jim Howland Service Centre in Overdale Street.
There is also a library service operating from The Dog in Tīrau – Library Link.
South Waikato District Libraries are managed through the Kōtui Consortium which is used by over 40 other New Zealand councils.
