Environment & Health
The aim of the Environmental Health department at the South Waikato District Council is to protect, promote and enhance public health within the District; as well as prevent, detect and control environmental hazards which affect our health. The Environmental Health department has wide ranging roles, some of which include:
- Alcohol licensing
- Registration of food premises
- Registration of other premises such as Hairdressers, Accommodation providers, Offensive trades, Hawkers/Itinerant traders
- Noise Control
- Health nuisances, Contamination & Hazardous substances
Controlling Plants and Animal Pests

Licensing and Permits
We regulate a number of licensing operations that are required by law. These include liquor licensing and premises registration licensing.
