Library Activities
Summer Reading Programme
From December to January each year we run the EC READ'N Summer Reading Programme. This programme is sponsored by the Lion's Charitable Trust. It is open to 180 children aged from four to 10 years who live in the South Waikato and is provided by the Tokoroa and Putāruru libraries at no charge. This programme is aimed at keeping the children reading over the summer holidays.
The programme runs for six weeks and winds up with finale where each child receives a book and other rewards.
School Holiday Programme
Each school holidays during the year we have a reading and activity based programme open to all ages, called S.T.A.R.S. (South Waikato Tamariki: Achievers, Role-models, Superstars!). A number of prizes are available to be won at the end of the September school holidays. Children use tokens earned throughout the year to indicate which prize they would like to win.
Craft days with different themes are held during each school holiday break.
Toddler Tales
Putāruru library provides a Toddler Tales pre-school programme of stories and crafts on Thursdays from 10.30am to 11.30am. For more information please contact the Putāruru Library Assistant.
The Community Services Librarian at Tokoroa is available to read stories to your group; this can be organised on a casual or regular basis.
