Summer Stars
Summer S.T.A.R.S is our South Waikato reading programme, and it’s:
- easy to join
- free
- open to all children across the South Waikato aged 4 – 11 years
- simple to complete
- and so much fun to do!
How to be a Summer star in five simple steps:
Register
pop into your local library with a parent or guardian and sign up for the programme
Read
a minimum of five library books over the summer between 13 December and 21 January. If you’re not a member of the library, that’s ok too! Our library team can help with that, just ask how.
Report
over the summer, come into the library and tell us about the book you’ve read. Each time you report, we’ll give you a sticker and a S.T.A.R.S token for the big prize draw at the finale.
Once you have reported in five times you have completed the programme and are invited to the finale celebration.
Reap the Rewards
we’ll throw a finale party in January to celebrate the achievements of all 2021 S.T.A.R.S. and everyone is a winner. We will celebrate with kai, entertainment, family fun, and an award ceremony. The finale prizes will be drawn, and all Summer Stars will receive a certificate and ribbon, and book to take home and keep.
Remember . . .
Places in the programme are limited and popular.
If you have not completed your first report-in by 31 December, your place may be given to someone on the waiting list.
To finish the programme, you must report in to the library five times during the programme.
