Christmas in South Waikato: Three events, three towns, one community

The 2026 festive season is right around the corner and there are plenty of opportunities to celebrate!

This year the South Waikato YMCA, a community-focused local non-profit organisation, has organised three events across three towns, bringing our community together as one.

Friday 4 December, 5pm-late, Putāruru
Festivities begin on Friday in Putāruru with a colourful Christmas Parade at Glenshea Park featuring festive floats and community groups. Visitors can also enjoy stalls, food vendors and live entertainment to kick off the special weekend.

Saturday 5 December, 12pm-late, Tokoroa
Christmas in the Park comes to Tokoroa, with market vendors, rides, music and activities throughout the day. As evening arrives, settle in with family and friends for a Christmas movie.

Sunday 6 December, 10am-2pm, Tīrau
The celebrations conclude on Sunday in Tīrau with a lively Christmas fair. Browse the stalls, enjoy a free sausage sizzle, and keep the children entertained with bouncy castles and games.

Bring your friends and whānau and join us for a weekend of festivities!
