South Waikato District Council gives notice to occupiers of 20-24 Market Street

Council has this week issued an Abatement Notice to the occupiers of 20-24 Market Street, Putāruru, due to changes in the scope of enterprise activities as was originally set out to Council.

This notice prohibits the occupiers from acquiring further materials at the site and sets out a requirement for the occupiers to remove existing stockpiles within an agreed timeframe.

The Abatement Notice takes effect immediately, and the occupiers have a right to appeal the under the RMA.

While Council acknowledges a Resource Consent has been lodged, the site is currently operating without the appropriate resource consent and has been the subject of widespread complaints.
