Arapuni Reservoir water level returning to normal

On Sunday 7 December, Council's Water Services team identified a steep drop in reservoir levels in Arapuni, which resulted in an urgent notification being issued to residents asking them to restrict usage, as capacity had dropped to 50%.

At the time there had been no reports of burst pipes or leaks and the cause for the drop in water levels was unclear.

On Monday 8 December, Council was notified of a leak within a private commercial system which, alongside higher than usual consumption levels, led to the steep drop in water levels.

Our team was able to quickly get on top of it before any major disruption. The leak has now been fixed and we are continuing to monitor water use to ensure the network remains stable, and also to determine if there were other factors involved.

Water levels are now steadily returning to normal. We advise using water sparingly at this time and expect levels to return to normal by Tuesday evening.
