Council forms panel of local tradies

South Waikato District Council is delighted to announce that its panel of local suppliers for services has been finalised. This is another step towards Council's goal of increasing local employment opportunities and working with local businesses to achieve economic growth for the District.

Back in April, Council published a tender, inviting tradespeople with a registered presence in the District to apply.

The tender ran for six weeks and there were 28 trade categories for suppliers to apply under. We received a great response from local businesses, and the following suppliers have been signed on to the Local Trades Supplier Panel.

• Concrete Works: 9 to 5 Contracting, Tirau Earthmovers, 2GZ Ltd, Trevs Concrete Placers, Calah Contracting, Stewart Contracting
• Crane Hire: Todd McPhee Crane Hire, Fire N Ice
• Electrical: McKillop Electrical (Laser Electrical), Winterson Electrical, Putaruru Electrical
• Fencing: 9 to 5 Contracting, Tirau Earthmovers
• Pest Control: First Klass Pest Solutions, Fire N Ice
• Plumbing and Drainage: Fire N Ice, Van Dam Plumbing, Tirau Earthmovers, Calah Contracting
• Property Management Services: Urban Property Services, Bonks Soft Wash, X Wash, South Waikato Window Cleaning, Done 4 U Cleaning, DSS Property Maintenance
• Pump Supply and Servicing: South Waikato Water Solutions, Calah Contracting, Fire N Ice
• Refrigeration Mechanic: Fire N Ice, Laser Electrical
• Sludge Tankering: South Waikato Waste Disposal, Intergroup
• Storm Water, Water and Wastewater Reticulation: Intergroup, South Waikato Water Solutions, WC Contracting
• Vegetation Clearance: Lawn Thunder, Acre Makers, Waikato River Trails Trust, DSS Property Maintenance
• Welding/Engineering Services: EMS Engineering, SGS Valve Engineering, Stewart Fabrications, Fire N Ice.

This contract will run for a 12-month period until1 August, 2026, with a possible year-long extension.

Where there was only one tenderer for a service, we will not proceed with the contract to allow for competition in that category.

There were five trade categories for which we did not receive any tenders - Painting, Glazing, Weed Control, Locksmiths and Directional Drilling.

Local suppliers who did not submit a bid are encouraged to apply in the next round of tenders.
