Tokoroa to Hamilton Regional Bus Service

This bus route takes you:

• The bus departs from the Tokoroa Bus Hub at 7.10am. From 24 April 2023, the bus will depart 10 minutes earlier at 7am.
• Lichfield
• Putāruru
• Tīrau
• Cambridge
• The Cambridge Velodrome
• Tamahere
• Waikato University
• Final stop is at the Hamilton Transport Centre at 8.50am for Wintec students and any other passengers.

The reverse route starts at the Hamilton Transport Centre at 4.45pm, arriving in Tokoroa at 6.33pm.

Fares and Bee Card System

Bee Card system

• Bee Card is the new ticketing system for Waikato buses – it is currently available in the rest of the Waikato region and now it’s your turn!
• The card works by tagging your card on/off a machine to pay your fare. It automatically works out where you hop on/hop off and charges you the correct fare. Failure to tag off will mean a default fare of $3 (not to be disclosed) will be charged.
• A Bee Card will be required to get the cheapest fares. Cash fares will still be available but are more expensive.
• Bee Cards are $5 each. You can purchase from the Tokoroa Library or online at beecard.co.nz.
• You will need to register you card online to top up. Create an account, and add one or more cards to it. Then you can add money, or concessions to your card/s.
• Top ups are also available from the retailer. You cannot top up on the bus.
  Fares
• Bee Card uses a zone fare system. Waikato’s bus network is divided into ten geographical zones. Fares are based on the number of zones the passenger travels through, and a flat fare is charged per zone.
  • Tokoroa is in zone 6.
• All under 5s travel free and do not need a Bee Card.
• Fare capping will be in use meaning that on a registered Bee Card, once you spend a certain amount each week, from Monday to Sunday, all further bus travel in that zone is free. Simply tag on and off with your Bee Card to activate fare capping.
• A SuperGold Card concession is available on a registered Bee Card. This entitles the card holder to free travel on all services.
• Cash fares are always double the Bee Card fare for that zone.
