Recycling Ambassadors

Through funding secured from the Ministry for the Environment, Council has been able to hire a team of Recycling Ambassadors to help our community along their recycling journey.

The Ambassadors will be seen out and about at the Transfer Stations helping people with their recycling when they visit the centre; guiding through acceptable plastic type, folding, cleaning, no lids etc. It can be very confusing, we know! Which is why the team has been tasked with helping.

They can also be spotted on the kerbside checking recycling bins prior to the truck collection. If they note an issue or two, they will leave a calling card (see image below) and a flyer in the mailbox.

If you get one of these, please take advantage of our offer to help, by calling the number of the card. One of our team will be around to help you and your family with the products that you buy on a daily basis. It's one-on-one assistance and it's free!

The Recycling Ambassadors won't be stickering your bins as part of the Three Strikes and You're Out system, but they do note that there are one or two concerns, hence the offer to help. Better to take advantage from the friendly Calling Card than not, and end up being stickered in the long run!
