Split the Bill
What does it fund?
South Waikato District Council will pay up to a $2,000 (or 50% of the total heating cost, whichever is the lowest) subsidy to remove a current non-compliant wood burner and then install a clean heat option. The remaining balance can be paid off immediately or through the rating system to be repaid over a nine year period. You can install as many clean heating appliances as you wish as long as ALL non-compliant wood burners are removed/decommissioned.
Clean heat options available under this scheme are: wood burner, heat pump; gas or pellet fire.
Insulation is not required however, it is strongly encouraged. If you want to insulate, then you must do this at the time of application for heating.
Are you eligible?
- Own your own home or rent (if you rent Council can broker a discussion with your landlord).
- Earn a medium to high income
- Live in the Tokoroa air shed (urban)
If you meet this criteria then this could be the scheme for you!
Go to the Warm Homes Scheme Selector tool to apply online. - it only takes a few minutes!
You select one or more service providers to assess your home and provide you quotes. Once you have decided which quote/s you want to proceed with then advise Council so that a contract can be created for signing.
Council will notify the service provider/s to undertake the work agreed to.
