Exciting progress continues at the South Waikato Indoor Pools redevelopment, with several key areas moving toward the finish line.

Since our last update in April, major milestones have been achieved across the site. Inside the building, the reception area, community room (designed for birthdays and events), changing rooms, lockers, pool-side areas and the sauna are all taking shape.

The acoustic ceiling in the main pool hall has been installed, showcasing the original wooden beams that have been re-used. Installation of HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) systems, electrical services, plumbing and waterproofing works are also well underway.

Outside, work is also progressing with a wider pathway to improve accessibility, along with landscaping works that will complete the transformation.

On 17 June tiling the pools will begin, marking a visible step towards the finished facility. The project remains on track with the official re-opening to be announced in the coming months, and visitors can now see the spaces coming together.

  • Water treatment main plant room plant and pipework
  • Spa plant room installation
  • Changing cubicles and joinery
  • Hydrostatic testing of children’s pool, spa pools, and children’s pool balance tank
  • Main pool balance tank waterproofing

The renovation of the Indoor Pools is a key project in Council’s Long-Term Plan (LTP). Once complete, the Pools will boast of much improved facilities, including a new sauna and plunge pool, a splash pad, non-slip flooring, new changing rooms suitable for families, the elderly and those with disabilities as well as a community room.
