Preview: Community Investment Committee Meeting - 16 October
Wednesday, 16 October will see the first meeting of a newly-formed South Waikato District Council Community Investment Committee.
Reporting directly to full Council, the overarching purpose of the Committee is to assist Council to develop and grow the South Waikato District through effective community investment
The Committee will oversee and monitor Council's planned Community Development Investment Scheme.
This work is tied to the vision and goals outlined in the Long Term Plan 2024-2034.
“To meet the aspirations set out in our Long Term Plan we need to activate the power of our community.," South Waikato District Mayor Gary Petley said.
“Our District is home to a diverse and vibrant not-for-profit-sector and Council has a role to play in growing the capability of these groups, especially where they can directly contribute to our vision and goals."
At the inaugural meeting the Committee will consider its Terms of Reference 2024, alongside a report relating to Community Investment Commissioning and Procurement for contracts to cover the 2025-26 and 2026-27 financial years.
