2025 Mayoral Scholarship Fund

The annual South Waikato District Mayoral Scholarship Fund will open for applications on 2 September 2024. Council is pleased to offer two Mayoral Scholarships once again to the value of $10,000 each ($2,500 per year for a maximum of four years). The Mayoral Scholarship Fund is open to South Waikato residents who are 21 years-old or younger, and who are planning to start a full-time degree qualification next year.

Mayor Gary Petley encouraged all eligible individuals to apply. “The Mayoral Scholarship fund is a great opportunity for our young people to pursue their academic dreams. I strongly encourage all eligible youth to apply. Your education is not just an investment in your future, but also in the future of our community. The rangatahi of South Waikato have great potential for success and we are happy to give them a jump start into their chosen field of study,” says Mayor Petley. Interested individuals can apply on Council’s website from Monday 2 September 2024. Applications close on Friday 11 October 2024. Since starting the Mayoral Scholarship Fund in 2006 the South Waikato District Council has helped more than 22 young people realise their study dreams and career aspirations.
