Dangerous, Affected and Insanitary Buildings Policy
South Waikato District Council proposes to amend and rename the existing Dangerous and Insanitary Buildings Policy to the Dangerous, Affected and Insanitary Buildings Policy.
One of the key purposes of the Building Act 2004 is to ensure that people who own and use buildings can do so safely and without endangering their health. Council’s role is to strike a balance between the threats posed by dangerous, affected and insanitary buildings and the broader social and economic issues affecting people in our community.
The policy has been prepared by Council to comply with Section 131 of the Building Act 2004 (the Act). Section 131 requires that each territorial authority prepares this Policy.
