Adopt a Dog

Council's Animal Control team manage an Adopt a Dog programme to find new homes for dogs that have a suitable temperament for rehoming.

Criteria apply and there is a $50.00 re-home fee. All dogs are de-sexed before they leave the Pound at no additional cost to the new owner.

The pound is in Whakauru Street, in Tokoroa. Pound hours are 8am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday.

This is  Lucky.  Look at those eyes!

This little boy deserves the very best home we can find. He is a Sharpei/Shepherd mix. He is always quietly excited to see you. Goes nice on the lead and is friendly and well mannered towards other dogs, cats and kids. Luckyhas recently spent the day on a lifestyle block - he was excellent and has good recall is not bothered by anything. Sat quietly inside once he had played himself out!

BLUEY

We need a special home for this girl - Blue has the energy of an Australian Cattle dog but with a nice bit of patience thrown in by the Sharpei mix. Good with cats, kids and well socialised she is eager to please and learns very quickly. Already sits for her food, and knows to stay outside when told.

Could you give me a home and a name?

Young greyhound cross bitch. She has a sweet soft personality. This girl is realy starting to come out of her shell - showing some real intelligence and trainability

Would make a gorgeous companion or family dog, loves spending time with people. This girl is very special and would also excel at obedience or agility.

Spends her time watching the world go by and would do anything for cuddles, she is good with kids, cats small dogs and all types of people.

Check me out!

Cute as a button with a huge personaility.

Male Cattle/Border cross. Friendly and always happy to see you he greets everyone with lots of enthusiasm!
