Adopt a Dog

Council's Animal Control team manage an Adopt a Dog programme to find new homes for dogs that have a suitable temperament for rehoming.

Criteria apply and there is a re-home fee (see Fees and Charges). All dogs are de-sexed before they leave the Pound at no additional cost to the new owner.

The pound is in Whakauru Street, in Tokoroa. Pound hours are 8am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday.

Black Lab Boy

This loveable rogue is looking for a forever home. He is approx 12-18 months old. He loves his walks and is enjoying learning new skills and manners on the lead. A very trainable dog who just wants to be with you and to please, he would make an amazing family dog.

This solid little guy is a male Staffy cross (maybe Blue heeler?). He is as solid as a brick... loves to play with the other dogs especially the puppies and very much enjoys his food!

Golden Girl

This is our special girl. She is approx six months old and still growing into her skin. Dogue de Bordeux cross - she has shown us she has that amazing chilled out nature of the mastiff and at this young age already just wants to walk by your side. Her colouring is a stunning golden brindle.

Shye is a Staffy/Heeler cross and as her name suggests she is a quiet girl who will be a bit shy until she knows you. She is friendly, under two years old and looking for her new family to take her home.
