The Proposed District Plan 2012 is now available online. You can:
A summary of the decisions requested in submissions received on the Proposed Plan during the initial submission period, and copies of the submissions themselves, can be inspected here.
The period for making further submissions (where people may support or oppose the submissions already made) closed on 13 March. The next step is for Council to schedule hearings.
Five hearings for the Proposed District Plan have been scheduled to take place from July - September 2013.
Hearing 1: 1-4 July - Urban Issues
Hearing 2: 15-18 July - Network Utilities
Hearing 3: 29-31 July and 2 August - Rural Issues and Subdivision (including specific Significant Natural Areas)
Hearing 4: 12-15 August - Providing for Biodiversity
Hearing 5: 2-6 September - Impacts of Farming on Water Quality
Final Deliberations: 25-27 September
Members of the public are welcome to attend the hearings. The hearings will commence each day at 9am in the Council Chamber, South Waikato District Council, Torphin Crescent, Tokoroa.
Submitters who disagree with Council's hearings decisions have the right of appeal to the Environment Court. Once all submissions and appeals have been resolved, the Plan becomes operative.
